I am so excited to have been invited to be part of Mrs. Potosky's Grade 5 classroom's Lit Circles. The students started with a book tasting, where they were given a chance to preview each of the following books. They then had to rate the books in the order that they would like to read them. There is a common theme with all of these novels - 'How we can help others and how we can help ourselves'. The students have already identified some of the problems the main characters have been experiencing and are learning how to blog about these amazing books without giving away spoilers. So please enjoy our students commentary, I can't wait to hear what they have to say! Happy blogging!!

I recommend the book Auggie And Me because it is a good book and it adds on to Wonder. Also you get to learn about Julian's story and how he feels about Auggie. You also get to learn how sometimes it is hard to be Auggie's friend with Pluto(Christapher). And Shingaling(Charlotte) of how she wants to be Auggie's friend but if she is she won't be "cool". I really enjoyed this book and think you will too.

I like Malala cause she so independent and so brave cause she stood up for women rights. She did interviews about women having to cover up there body's with cloth because they are not allowed to show there skin in public. Because she lives in a country were they don't like/ respect women. I give this book a 4/5.

I recommend Auggie and Me, written by R.J. Palacio and the author of Wonder, because it's relatable to being in middle school. The friends part of the book, kids are changing and Julian doesn't feel that popular as he was in grade 4. I haven't read much of this book yet but I am enjoying this book so far.

I would recommend I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai because the book is talking about how girls are not allowed to go to school because the Taliban army were not allowing them to go because woman don't have as much power as men. This book makes me realise that we are lucky to live in Canada.

Yes, very! We should all be able to go to school, and I personally realize that we should all be grateful for school, because I also know that some of us don't like to go to school! But for me, I personally think of it as a time to think about stuff and we get to see our friends and learn new stuff! Some people don't like school, but I certainly do. And I absolutely love reading! Reading is the secret to life! I read every day. But as I said, and Stefanie said; be grateful. Be grateful for what we have, which is a chance to go to school!😉

Wonder is 10 out of 10. I recommend this book for someone in middle school because if you like Star Wars then you will like Wonder because August likes Star Wars too. This helps make the book relatable.

I am reading the book, I Am Malala. And I enjoy how Malala wants to risk her life for other kids education. I suggest this book for people that want to learn about the Taliban you read this book or, The Breadwinner, because there both based on the Taliban. Even though they both have a different story they still are based on the same situation of making people and woman helpless.

I like the book Auggie and Me because it shows a different perspective from every character when they first met Auggie. I like the Julian chapter, because it talks about how he treated Auggie. I would recommend this book if you like wonder.

In the novel Auggie and Me by R.j. Palacio I think Julian will not be a bad person any more because his grandma told him a sad story a bout her when she was young and Julian mite stop making fun of Auggie. His grandma made him realize it is not nice to make fun of someone because when she was little she made fun of a boy that ended up saving her life.

I am reading the book I Am Malala. I think Malala is scared but brave. She was scared because there is a war around her. She is brave because she speaks up about girls education. I recommend this book because it ca teach you about what can happen in some country's.

I am reading the book I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai and Patricia McCormick. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy learning about girl rights and history. In this book, it talks about Malala's struggles an her family's struggles. Malala's goal is to make Girl rights equal to Boy rights. Girls in her country always needed to be a few steps behind a boy relative or you would be punished.
