In the month of December we launched the 'Gift of Reading' literacy activity for our grade 5 & 6 students. Library books were wrapped, with clues about the story line. This optional activity, gave the students the opportunity to open a book that they will be able to read it over the holiday break. If they chose to open a book, they committed to reading the entire book and provide a book review to be handed in when we all get back in January. The students were very excited about opening a gift, not knowing what to expect. Some of the comments have been, "I can't wait to start reading this book", "This is not something I would have normally chosen, but it looks really good!". Happy reading and happy holidays to all! ~ Mrs. Stewart

I really enjoyed this! I got a book called Dress Coded. It was super fun and it challenged me to read a book out of my comfort zone. I read something I normally wouldn't have picked and I ended up enjoying it. This was a really good idea and I would definitely participate again! Thank you, Mrs. Stewart!
